Profile

Max was born and raised in Germany before coming to Canada as a teenager. Following his completion of the TREK Outdoor Education Program at Prince of Wales Secondary in Vancouver, Max graduated from Western Canada High School in Calgary. He obtained his Bachelor of Commerce with a double specialization in Entrepreneurship and Service Management from the Gustavson School of Business at the University of Victoria.

Max completed law school at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops. Throughout law school, Max was a student mentor as well as member and two-time President of the Thomspon Rivers University OUTLaws Executive, a student run 2SLGBTQI+ advocacy club. He brings diverse experience from his previous role as Temporary Articling Student for the counsel for the Ministry of Children and Family Development where he gained valuable insight into child protection cases, court proceedings, and legal document preparation. His background also includes working as a Materiel Management Reconciliation Clerk and Acting Procurement Agent at the Department of National Defense for the Royal Canadian Navy. Additionally, Max demonstrated his entrepreneurial spirit and client-focused approach with a successful stint in running his own photography and web-design business. Also, fluent in German, Max has honed his communication skills as a German tutor throughout university.

Outside the professional sphere, Max has travelled to over thirty-two countries and is an avid hiker and skier. He was also a certified Emergency Medical Responder and an accomplished athlete having completed three half-ironman triathlons. Moreover, Max is a committed community member and holds leadership positions in numerous organizations underscoring his commitment to these causes. He is currently the Chair of the Board of Directors of Metchosin Search and Rescue after holding various positions including Vice Chair, Acting Team Leader, and Ground Search and Rescue volunteer over the past six years. Additionally, as a proud member of the Canadian Bar Association BC Branch – Sexual and Gender Diversity Alliance, Max actively supports diversity and inclusion in the legal profession and beyond.
